Gtr r34 callipers vs Evo 8

    Hi

Im stuck between the r34 gtr and the evo 8 brembos
Looking at them they look very similar,
Unsure on the disk sizes and hose compatibility
I looked up the price for pads - Ferodo ds2500
for the Nissan they were £135 and for the evo £205 !!
Looking at around £300 for either of the front callipers
    recomendations?
    Thanks

R34 calipers are the same as 350z, which are almost the same as R33 GTR (same disc size - 324mm). The R34/350z calipers fit but you need to drill out the bolt holes on your hubs to 14mm. R33 GTRs bolt straight on. Evo calipers you need to get brackets made for, so usually works out more expensive overall. They're all the same hose fitment as far as I know. They'll all perform pretty much the same.

Evo 8 Brembos have a larger piston size so more braking power, but its pretty minimal though. You will have to pay for discs and conversion brackets. Also Evo 5 - 9 brembos are all exactly the same as far as I recall. Here's a walk through guide for it showing you what you need.

For ease of installation, I think R33 Brembos callipers and discs are a direct bolt on for S14s but you will be paying more than £300 unless you get lucky

For £300, your best bet might be to get some R33 GTST calipers, a good quality disc and pads and some braided lines all round. Very common swap and all bolt on too, they come up for sale quite often in the For Sale section quite regularly so keep checking back

If you have the spare cash the EVO calipers are much better, they take a larger pad so have a greater pad surface area contact with the disc.

As above you would need a bracket making, I used to do a kit to make them fit using a bracket and 345mm discs. The package overall was epic for the cost.

I paid £400 for my R33 GTRs and sold them for £400 so that seems to be about the going rate. R34s/350z are about the same money or slightly more, but once you've drilled out your hubs to fit them there's no going back.
