Diff pinion flange thickness

I doubt this will be much of a problem but a while ago I dropped my diff off the transmission stand and bent the flange,

I straightened it but I got another one for piece of mind

Just went to fit it and I've realised the new flange is almost double the thickness of the old one

They both came out of abs s13 diffs, both measure up the same and sit in exactly the same position




I'm going to stick it in but was just wondering why the difference?

I always thought the abs was the chunky one and non abs was slimmer but this would appear wrong

Or it's early / late. All diff flange part numbers changed in Sept 1990.
