    Vehicle Leasing Question

    People of the SXOC

For some time I've been thinking about getting a new car by leasing it, but one think I have found. Personal leases are considerably more expensive than business leasing.

Rhetorical question, but is there any reason why I couldn't setup a business, say to do contracting.... and use it to business lease a vehicle? Could save a thousand over a year....

Has anyone ever done this before

Say for arguments sake I set up a company that charged a subscription for services. Leasing a vehicle would come out as a cost. so say these services were enough to cover the cost of leasing etc

Bugger - Company car tax would make it more expensive than personal leasing

Basically you get stung with tax for BIK so end up worse off. If it was cheap every contractor would do it

    Cheers Ben.

Decided to do it via a personal lease. Range Rove Evoque.. Some stunning deals on them at the moment

What made you choose an Evoque? Not had any experience of them so interested what makes them appealing.

    .
Had a drive in one and it is a very nice place to be behind the wheel. Plus residuals keep the lease cost down considerably.

If you have the combo of patience and balls to just jump on the best deals when they appear, you can get some absolutely cracking lease deals to be fair. Get on the PistonHeads forum, they have a good thread tracking lease deals and theres no doubt some people there who can show you who has the best offers for an Evoque at the moment.

I've made a miserable, beige decision to lease an Astra because I do a lot of distance due to where I work and where my family / girlfriend live, but total cost to me is £39 a week, excluding insurance, for two years of (hopefully) trouble free motoring, in a half decent car. Happy days.

The new Astra's we have as works lease cars are not even a quarter decent, never mind half, horrible cars much worse than the Hyundais they replaced.

You can pick up a lot of car for sub 200 squids on leasing these days if your lucky with finding a good deal.

I think GM have been spending the budget on styling as their cars look good these day but that leaves them nothing for dynamics

Put it this way, driving it was about as much fun as reading a dictionary.

But for £125 a month, it was that or some 3 cylinder C1/Aygo rubbish.

At least the Astra is comfortable and fairly well equipped haha.

These new Astra's really are shite to drive. We have loads of diesel estate cars, .20 just on our site plus hire cars.

Not had Fords for a few years now, but they were good, nice to drive and had all you needed.

The Passat/VAG ones where just totally numb to drive and un-interesting but had lots of nice features and entertainment and so on.

Hyundais were joint best with the Fords for driving dynamics, although I still rate BM and Mazda slightly better but only driven these privately.
