Swapping s14 lsd in to s13 housing

Hi, can anyone tell me if it's easy to fit the lsd from an s14 in to a s13 housing. Reason being I have just bought a s14 diff to fit in place of the s13 one. I need to swap the end plates as the mountings are different. Also I have cleaned up and painted the housing on my s13.

So how easy is it to swap over? Thanks

    Easy.

Swap diff back plates over and you will need some s14 solid diff bushes as the 13 diff is solid mounted.

Then its 22 nuts and bolts!!

You may need to remove rear part of exhaust to give more room to manouvre.

My one is a open auto diff. Why do you wish you had kept it. Is it just the gearing.

Why do you need a hammer?

Depends on what you wish to achieve by fitting it! Mine was an auto open too and the gearing was alot better in my opinion!

I hope to achieve around 400 ish hp. So I thought it would support the power better.

Why would the auto diff not support it?

It would cope with the power but if my understanding of open diff is correct if one wheel lots traction the power would not shift to the other wheel. I Suppose a open diff is safer as the back end will not break away.

My s14 lsd doesn't necessarily always lock both tbf

Have you looked at s15 helical diffs they are meant to be next best to a 1.5/2 way.

S14 auto diff is same ratio as all S13 diff's. S14 manual diff is longer ratio, it will reduce acceleration in each gear, reduce tendency to let go and gear for higher speed. This may mean the rpm at road speed is reduced requiring more down shifts to get good response
