You'll end up going the same way I did when I bought the hilux....

The dirt cheap knock about run around - ends up being the most reliable and enjoyable (for its practically and reliability) car you have owned

if its heated leather - they are the best seats I have ever been in for a long drive, that include Bentley Continentals and range rovers .... the seats are just right, suppose that's why all the *70 & *90 series have had the same ones since the mid 90's until very recently they are excellent.

    Lol, bought it - it's a barge.

Slow as hell but kicks down and drives alright. Few bits need attention, it's got a cracked rear light cluster but they're only a score on eBay, there's some dings to rear bumper but hardly anything horrendous and that was the whole point, to have something I didn't care about getting bashed around a bit.

Interior is epic and all working, including heated seats.

Mechanically it's not perfect but for the money it's got a long ticket and it was very cheap. I reckon it needs new discs before next ticket but they're cheap enough. The worst of it is a slight weep of PAS fluid out of the pump end clamp which is dripping down onto alternator. Seems to be a common problem and not one that folk get worked up about, but I'd like to sort it if it's cheap enough to do so. It's looking OK at the rack end which is the important bit.

Might need a new screen at some point as there's a scratch in driver eyeline - not sure whether it would be possible to polish out?

Bit of TLC and it'll be reet.

Good choice. My partner in (car) crime bought a V70 D5 for his missus with more hits than the Beatles a couple of months ago for about £1200. So much car for the money, so much so I'd prefer one to my X5. Did you get the Dolby stereo?

No mate, petrol. It's the 140bhp non turbo model. 2002. Boring silver. No tow bar.

It really is nothing at all exciting. I feel quite ashamed of myself.

Dunno about the Dolby Stereo. It's a 4 CD changer. How lovely.

    700 notes though. Bare.

Do you feel slightly dirty ?

I once bought a 205 XS 1.4 for £150 as a runaround. That gave me a slightly grubby feeling.

More than a little grubby. It's weird because it's exactly what I wanted but at the same time I can't help but feel I should have spunked £2k+ and bought something I wanted rather than needed. Oh well, it's done now, and I'm sure it'll serve me well. And if it doesn't it's probably worth what I've paid for it in pure scrap value.
