    Nissan Cedric GT

So it's not an s-body, but thought I'd put a thread up anyway as I just think these cars are pimp and I thought some of you might have a bit of love for it haha

So was think of getting a new car as an occasional daily as I've got a van for work and my s14a has kind of gone past the point of being a road car anymore haha then up popped a Cedric GT ultima and it tickled my fancy (was thinking of importing a laurel, just as I fancied something different). So went off to look at it and it was CLEAN, just been imported and clearly been looked after, it's 20 years old and not a mark on it! Also it was completely standard which I liked even more, no pulling it apart to find bodge after bodge. So that was it I had to have it, so did the deal and agreed to go back later that week to collect. So I picked it up last Friday and this is how it looked the day I picked it up....

And I've got to say I'm absolutely LOVING it!!!! So comfy, pretty nippy too with the 3.0 v6 turbo lol and I'm even enjoying the auto box.

Not got any pics yet as it needs a clean inside and out after being used over Xmas but once it's had a clean tomorrow I'll throw some more up.

But got it up the lock up today to try identify some bits and work out what I can swap out with parts that are easier to get hold of and done a few little bits.

Fitted a subway handle as I've got a few knocking about

Also ditched the sidelights for a nicer look

    Before

    After

Also decided there was too much chrome on the front grill

So off it came and a quick sand and primer

Then few coats of Matt black

    And back on

Think I'm also going to Matt black the badge too and refit it.

Few little bits I want to do next, remove the ugly rear fog and relocate to one of the reversing lights, change the bonnet lifters as they don't hold bonnet up any more, get the horrible old man wood hydro-dipped, new head unit and get some hids fitted and change the bulbs all round to get them all nice and bright.

Then plans are to get rid of hicas, lower it, upgrade brakes front and rear, fmic, boost controller, new wheels, air filter, exhaust and full body kit then I should be happy for a while lol

I have to admit, I'm feeling the love for that.

    Sort of Nissan meets Jaguar.

    Cheers lads!

This is probably the kit I'm going to go for.....

With some ssr viennas. Think it should then be pretty subtle and not tacky lol and obviously try release some more ponies from the lump under the bonnet as it's got so much wasted potential!

That kit would actually look better without so much lows IMO, especially at the back. Looks a bit too much like a crippled Merc dragging its arse round.

Where did the other pics of Jap show cars go ? That red one looked nice.

Cheers mate, the joys of moddings cars.... everybody's different and has their own tastes. A lot of people have said I should keep the wood inside, but I hate it and think it'll look so much better in carbon.

I think it's pearlescent? At night or in direct sun goes goldie/greenie colour.

Yeah it seems it. Only thing not standard on it when I got it was rear fog light haha

Yes ! Seems tappytalk has decided to show me stuff I haven't asked for Go figure.

Anyway, lowered red one looks more balanced than the lowered white one. Not sure why.

Interior is going to look more "in tune" with the outside if you go carbon. Wood only really works if you are going for a 70s exec look.

I'll watch this thread with interest.

The bottom two pics (red and white) are actually y32 gt and the top two (yellow/gold and white) are y33 gt like mine, few subtle differences.... bonnet, boot and headlights etc.

But I'll be getting wheels and lows first so hopefully should be able to get it sitting pretty well then be looking in to kits, found a couple more over the past few days so see what happens lol

Yeah I want to try go along the VIP route but still have it smart and subtle so be a mix of a few things in there

That looks like a really nice base. It badly needs skirts though. Badly.

Loving the digidash and the CD player.

Wood looks better than I thought but as said before its not going to work with a kit and big wheels.

It needs something more shiny by way of a shift knob too.

    Something like this ?

    Nissan Cedric GT

I know you don't, that's why I liked it! Been looking at laurels, but even they've started popping up lately?!

Yeah I know it does, doesn't help that the sills have black stonechip/under seal on so it looks higher than it is too! (Not that it isn't on stilts haha hopefully once the wheels go on in a couple of weeks that might help a little too

And I'd love something like that as a shifter!! But I've got the overdrive button built in to my shifter, have to find out if I can relocate or remove it and swap out for something better
