    Cheers guys

Very close now! To do list is something like:
    Rear drivers side tub
Few more small spots of rust
Close the rear section of the drivers sill up
Accident damage on front chassis leg
And a small bit of rust behind the drivers front strut tower

Then it's seam sealer, and primer etc

Boot floor is looking amazing, finishing off the rear floor:

Moving down the small list of things remaining to do, next up is the drivers side rear tub

Haha, it's all worth it in the end - it'll be one of the cleanest around and hopefully worth something in the future. But I don't think I'll ever be able to sell it after all of this!

Can't believe how close the metal work is to being completed!

    Finishing off the rear tub:

It always looks like there's less rust than there actually is when it gets cut open!

The bracket on the rear quarters that the top half of the seat bolted to would not come out when I was stripping the car, it was just spinning and spinning - even more annoying that the plastic quarter panel doesn't come off until this bracket is off - Steve cut the bolt off in the end.

As he still had the rear half cut shell, he's took the section off of there to replace mine, the nut had snapped off it's welds on my one.

And the final bits of rust in the rear wheel arch replaced!

Looks like good stuff. This is the problem with welds they oxidize as soon as you buzz them. Some of them you can't get to the other side of them.

In regard to future value, the 2040 rule is worrying me a little. I want to keep mine forever but they will make it difficult for us no doubt!

Been watching Steve's progress on FB, damn that cars gonna be like 75% new metal by the time it's done, technically a new car
How have you and him agreed pricing? Is it rolling or did he give you a fixed quote?
Gonna be awesome I'm keen to make use of his services with the two shells I've got

Yeah it's not far off that haha

Agreed a price, then I started stripping it and found so much more rust so agreed another price - then it got worse along the way as you can see so ended up being a mix. But Steve's been great along the way.

You better try and get them booked in then, there's a long list of bookings now!

Moving back to the front of the car, theres a section on the rear of the strut tower that had seen better days:

Holes have been welded over that are not going to be used anymore, hopefully have a smooth clean bay when it's painted up

There was a bit of accident damage on the front driver chassis leg, so it's been cut away - and a plate welded on. The bolts are there in case I ever decide I want to run a front bash bar, gives it some mounting points! Also, the crash/bumper bar mountings were as thin as paper - when we unbolted it the mount point just crumpled and twisted, so they've been replaced too

GOOD NEWS! After this post, that is it for the restoration work. No more rust. (Not much original steel left either!). No more welding on the shell. After this, there's: Primer, Seam sealer, Bodykit fitting, Front wings to modify, and then it's ready for it's trip to the bodyshop next month. Very excited now..!

First off, closing off the rear sill:

And closing off below the rear window - this was removed when the rear quarter was swapped

There was many, many snapped bolts scattered around the car, so Steve has had the fun job of removing them all haha. A couple of the gearbox mount nuts had been stripped previously too, so they have been drilled out and new inserts welded in.

Final bits on the drivers rear arch

    amazing stuff happening here!!

I am moving on to my boot floor cut soon to fit my diffuser so I will definitely be using these as reference! I would be keen to know what the brand of weld through primer is? i use the bilt hamber stuff and its ok but am always open to find something better.

also this makes me want to strip the bottom of my car again and look for rust

also the use of OHP sheets to make templates is GENIUS!! no more pushing card into corners and hoping dirt rubs off. will be buying some OHP sheets tomorrow.

"Rostisol copper extreme" apparently. Special order from the US, Steve's local suppler is trialling it

It's in primer!! Looks so good all in one colour . Relived there's no more stressing over rust.

We're leaving it a week or so to cure now, reduce the risk of things reacting etc when the next layers of everything goes on

Cheers guys. Can't wait now haha.

Steve's been busy with a bit of other work whilst the primer was curing but got back onto mine today and got the seam sealing done (11 tubes overall!)

Next up is gravitex on the underside

After just over a year of the car coming off the road and starting the strip down, it's getting close to being back with me!

I had originally brought a fibreglass kouki spoiler rep but changed my mind on that - rather get something original on a build like this. Fiberglass one was shocking quality and would have needed rebuilding in the body shop! Luckily an original came up for sale so I've got that coming over from Japan should be here in the next couple of weeks

Underside is now coated in gravitex for another layer of protection

Good choice on the Gravitex, it's the same stuff I used. Goes on a treat.
