With the body pretty much ready it was time to start on the engine, adjusted the base timing first.
This is the car on idle on the power fc basemap, drowning in fuel.
Then i installed a zeitronix datalogger. This gives me widebandlambda, throttleposition, exhaust and intake temperature.
Also got a datalogit unit so i can tune the power fc with a pc.
This is the first time i have tried to tune a standalone ecu also.
Started with the idle.
Still not perfect but way better than before.
Replaced the single muffler greddy exhaust with a invida kat. back ece/abe approved exhaust.
A friend adjusted the wheel aligment, very easy with the adjustable arms.
Then it was time for mot.
Everything was ok except for the adjustable cusco arms, since they are not ece/abe approved
Because of the remark on the arms i had to show the car to the goverment mot
Since i had to go there anyway i decided to upgrade the suspension.
It was xyz coilovers on the car, the front shocks was locked and the rear was out of oil. Bloody dangerous to drive with.
The z-edition was delivered with 30mm eibach lowering springs, but i bought h&r 30mm since i prefer them.
I am a big fan of bilstein shocks but they only deliver rear shocks. (Anything with a nurburing sticker on has to be good?)
Project mitsubitshi gto bilstein inserts.
Started with used front strut.
The gto insert is 15mm thick, the s14 is 14mm. First problem was the bearing in the top strut mount. Normaly this is a needle bearing since the load is up and down. But on the s14 it is a normal ball bearing. So i just replaced it with a new one with 15mm centerhole.
Drill a hole in the bottom of the strut to lock the insert in place.
Mono damper.
Dustcover on.
Noticed when i was driving over speedbumps that the front was very stiff on compression.
The problem was that a monodamper has the bumpstop built in.
So i had to lenghten the bottom of the strut.
Checking clearance to the balljoint nut.
Then i welded everyhing together, it was about 35mm longer.
Primer.
Very happy with the ride now. It is firm but not uncomfortable.

Had to buy new wheels before the next mot, the old ultralite wheels was not legal since the are different width front and back.
Bought 4 new rims 8x18 et 35 and nordic winter tyres 225/40 r18
Mounted:
Since black wheels on a black car can be boring i plastidipped them bronze.
Testfit
Plastidipped the new hood.
Then it was time for the final mot, was lucky and got the car approved.
Even with 2.4 degrees camber in the back
With the car ready for the road the mods continued. Changed the nissan badge.
The clutch pedal bracket was very soft, and was moving a lot. So i got a nismo reinforced bracket.
Much better pedal feel, but it still moves a little bit sideway at the end of the pedal travel.
One evening i was tuning the car while a friend was driving. Did 4-5 small pulls in second gear.
When we pulled over while i was adjusting the tune, my friend noticed smoke in front of the car.
It was the brakes.
I was never impressed with the brakes on the car, but this was actually dangerous.
So from Stock calipers with black diamond 280mm discs and pads.
To nissan 350z track edition brembo 324mm brakes.
Painted the brembos black for max sleeper look.
Looks and works way better then stock.
Here is the discs next to eachother, can see how hot the stock brakes has been.
Since the caliper bolts from the 350 are to long i used N90876802 vag bolts (m14 1.5 mm thread 38mm long)
These was a perfect fit.
Good work mate, the standard brakes on the s14 are pretty bad...
Surprised how strict they are with the car mods in Norway, saw you mention you can't have wider wheels on the back of the car?
