    Ca18det won't rev above 3k

Driving onto a slip road and then car just starts bogging and missing. If I pull away or drive below 3k revs it's seems fine but if I put my foot down it just looses all power and starts Miss firing and won't increase rpm any more. Ecu shows no codes either.

    Any help here?

Limp home mode caused by Air Flow Meter failure, most likely.

The above, or you are sucking in rusty fuel.

Limp home mode is 2000rpm. Just unplug the AFM to experience it. You have to drive between 1400-2000 rpm everywhere. Max speed is about 45mph in top.

    Plugs / coils. Check sparks.
    Air/boost leak.
Lambda sensor. Mode II ECU test. Mixture ratio.
    Fuel pressure.
    Compression test.
Mode III and V ECU tests.

That covers everything from pages EF&EC page 52 condition 14 stumble while accelerating and page 58 condition 20 Stall while accelerating

Updeate on the car. Will rev to in neutral just not when I'm driving. Took the plugs out and they were black. Still think it's air flow meter?

Another update. If I keep the car in second and barely touch the pedal if will build up revs past 3k. As soon as the boost gauge sees 0 psi and not vacuum anymore it starts misfiring and bogging

I had a quick look but couldn't see anything. Wondered if the side mount intercooler had gone. Might just be me but sounds like boost is leaking out the exhaust. I'll have to see if I can pressure the system and listen for any leaks

Mine was doing pretty much exactly that with a broken CAS. Can't hurt to check timing. Maybe you're sparking too late.

Classic "pop off" valve. Some part of the hot side is very loose. Once it makes boost it "pops off", ECU goes to limp home. Instant vacuum sucks the hose back on and normal running resumes until boost.

missed the thread earlier but I'm thinking same thing as skyshack has happened after reading the symptoms/how it drives

Don’t mean to bump an old thread but it turns out the turbine housing has come loose and had a gap between the housing and the core causing the air to just piss out the back of the turbo. Was spooling up and the maf was reading loads of air being drawn in so was just over fueling.

Just in case anyone else in the future had the same problem. Found with a smoke test
