Sr gets to temp then drops back off

Hi lads,

Everytime i run my sr converted s13, temp builds untill the middle and then drops back down much colder than id like.

Surely a stuck open stat wouldnt make running temp initially?

For reference i have an alloy rad with no shroud, no electric fans, and just a viscous fan, in the future i plan to refit my shroud but its already running too cold.

Oh and I referenced the temp guage using an aftermarket guage, the temp is correct, no failed sensors.

Any ideas guys?

Thermostat I'm guessing?

put your hand on the rad and see what temp it is all over. ut I would also suggest a new stat.

New stat I had this prob on my sr recently after changing to an up rated radiator , turns out the stat had gone coincidentally .
My rad was getting hot one side and not the other, when I floored it the temp gauge went back down.
