    Plugs, Filters and Oil

    Hello guys,

I'll be getting my 180SX SR20DET 180SX SR20 (back top 1996) at the end of this month and while waiting I want to order a few service parts.

    Here's my list:

    1. Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 Pure Plus Fully Synthetic Engine Oil or Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40 Engine Oil (formerly Mobil Synt S 5W-40).
    2. NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS BKR7EIX
    3. Air Filter - Found this one on ebay (not sure is it correct one, can you anyone recommend a branded filter) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1516308654...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
    4. Oil Filer - Found this one on ebay (again any other recommendation) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1314682332...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

The filters listed on ebay described 'RPS13 180SX SR20DET Redtop', so wasn't sure are they compatible with my?

Sorry I was going to try the SXO Wiki to see if I could find any information, since the page is down I try here.

    Please advise

Probably would be safer to buy a blacktop s14 oil filter in my opinion. All good on the plugs and oil , no idea about the air filter.

Do not whatever you do buy an oil filter for an S14.

Redtop & blacktop straight cam S13/180sx SR20DET's use the same oil filter.

This is what you want, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OE-Spec-Oi...MAAOSw2s1UwoJv

Absolutely no need to get the K&N one as it doesn't do anything extra.

The air filter is fine. Plugs, well personally if its standard I would run BKR6's not 7's. You should stick to 6's below 1 bar of boost really from experience.

Oil is personal preference, I use FUCHS Titan SuperSyn 5w 40 in my PS13, because it is or at least was one of the most cost effective fully synthetic oils.

Whoops, my logic was entirely flawed. Good thing there's people on here that know better. I bought one from tegiwa that was basically advertised for all Sr20dets, godnknows what I've bought

Not to worry, generally speaking if you buy anything listed as SR20DET it will be intended for the bent cam (s14 and s15 varient) engine, so you will be fine.

Correct, the filters fit however the sr20det is smaller than the CA18 one from memory.

I'd fit Copper NGK plugs over Iridium personally, as others have said whether you need grade 6 or 7 depends on how much boost it's running.

Are you planning on changing gearbox or diff oil?

Yes that part number does seem to be from The s13/180sx.

The s14/s15 is 15208-65F0E or F0C for the previous revision.

I thought of buying Genuine Nissan or Branded Oil filter just to be cautious.

You mean these plugs >>> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-NGK-BK...YAAMXQ4uJR~2A1

Yes I'll be changing them later down the line, need to find time to do some research

Just buy some reputable brand, no need on spending mega bucks on oil filters. Anyway you'll change it in the next 5-6k miles.
    Look for Mann, mahle, etc.
Personally I always buy Mann - less than 5 bucks in a local store.

I go for Mann filters as well, decent quality and never had any issues with fitment on any car.
