Fuel cut
I'd like to raise the boost on my S14a to 14.9 psi but I don't want to have a boost gauge. Is there any reason I can't keep tweaking a Bren device/ space out the actuator until I hit fuel cut then tweak it back a bit? What am I risking...aside from head butting the steering wheel?
I have walbro and S15WMIC and would get colder plugs before I did it.

Dont run 1 bar without a map, i know we all did it in the old days but even with plug and 99ron fuel its still a crap shoot for keeping it alive - i burnt out a valve on no1 with that once...
Set it at about 13psi and enjoy.

You'll be running very lean, it won't make actually much power and you risk detonation and blowing it up. Buy a stage1a ECU and supporting parts and enjoy the boost properly

Thanks guys, I'll sort my horrendous boost leak first then maybe go to 12, I'll save 15 for when I can go Nistune

I took my S14a to Horsham Developments... Very good service would highly recommend. Jez is very helpful and extremely knowledgeable with these engines
First you will need uprated fuel pump. Walbro 255 on eBay about £70 and you can fit easily yourself.
Stage 1A chip from horsham fitted was £220
Boost valve fitted at Horsham was £40 set at 15PSI
And several runs on Dyno was £30
All in all about £340
Now I have more power a lot more torgue and more economical.

OK, so the boost leak was probably my broom-handle bung that embarrassingly popped out mid overtake in North Baddesley, what size Ali bung do I need to get to do the job properly?

Ok, I have my S1a Horsham chip in the post. Can I fit a MBC while still retaining the standard solenoid to reduce boost in 1st and 2nd gears? I was thinking that if I only run higher boost in 3rd and above, my S15 WMIC would be getting plenty of air.

It such a short duration of time your in those lower gears that imho its not worth the hassle, just remove the old solenoid and fit the mbc.
s15 wingmount is decent for a bar. not the best by far but better than the s14 crap.

Ahh, OK, I thought the biggest chance of detonation was with heat soak after sitting at a standstill. In terms of “hassle” would it not just be a case of splicing the MBC before the solenoid? I’d probably appreciate the traction benefits of lower boost in 1st and second too.

That’s what the right peddle does that’s for controlling power
