    Z32 AfM's weak?

I don't expect anyone to know the answer as there are so many variables.

Not read any threads really regarding this so it's really my own experiences.

But are Z32 AFM's generally shit, weak and prone to damage?

Over the last 5 years or so I've had a number (4 to be exact) and each one has suddenly stopped working for no real reason.

The last one was removed from my old car, wrapped up in a carrier bag and put in a drawer at home.

Fast forward 2 years plonked it in my new car seemed to work fine (and was also tested by someone and they confirmed it worked fine too) and it now suddenly doesn't work anymore.

I've bought ones from other members on here (whom I trust as I've known them a long time) popped them (as there has been 2) on my car...neither work, and I have absolutely no reason to think they came off their cars not working.

Bought another which frankly looked absolutely crap, had electrical tape covering a hole in the casing on the side. The mesh was split and busted but it worked perfectly. (Which was removed and placed in a drawer as above)

I've now had to buy yet another but this time buying brand new but I really want to avoid having to buy any more in the future as it's getting bloody expensive.

My only thoughts are should the battery be disconnected and system discharged before removing the sensor?

When you say new do you mean genuine? as the pattern ones are generally a pile of shit.

On the 14a and the 15

Complete Wiring harness was checked by Norfy around a year ago and was ok.

Pretty sure the R35 shares it's AFM with most other cars, including the Micra.
So if you do go for that AFM don't get stung with scene tax
