    Unhappy Shifter shakes violently?

Whenever I lose traction in my 13, whether wet dry or anything the shifter throws itself around. At first I believed its the trans mount but replaced it with a poly mount and its still there, although reduced.

I had read online that subframe bushings can cause this (wheel hop) so I was thinking of getting some inserts/subframe spacers for the meantime as thats a cheap & effective way to fix wheel hop apparently.

I also thought replacing the engine mounts would help, but the OEM ones seem fine so I'm not sure if thats necessary. The car also has a welded diff, and whenever I turn sharp (slow speeds) it feels as if the subframe moves in a zigzag pattern. Its an odd thing to describe. Lol

I'd appreciate any help and input !

It's the engine mounts. Stock are soft as shit.

I thought this, but is it enough to cause wheel hop?

Solid subframe and diff bushes stopped all of the wheel hop in my S14 at the expense of some noise. Along with these, I would fit stiffer engine and gearbox mounts to stop the drivetrain moving so much. Again the trade off is more noise and vibration, but it's bearable for me and I daily mine with all those things done

I installed Nismo engine, gearbox and subframe mounts, and the stick is shaking less, but still annoying.
You might want to go to another brand, if you want zero play.
Also the shifter bushing could be shot.

Sounds like your bushes are ****ed.
A welded diff will skip and hop about, but it shouldn't move the subframe with it.

I think so too, will subframe collars be any help instead of having to do the bushes?

No, it's different issues. Mount a cam/phone looking at the gearstick and do some S bends, Ideally don't crash but it doesn't have to be fast, you will see a lot of movement and that's the whole engine rocking about. In my S14 Nismo mount's made a big difference in reducing the amount of movement.
That's why I think it's the cause of stick moving about so much during hop etc

The rear arm bushes are designed to allow the arm by to move fore/aft to toe in the rear under braking. During wheel spin a slow mo will show the wheel continuously catch/slip/catch/slip causing wheel hop, it's actually forward/back motion, this can be seen even in some brand new cars.
Add that and all the other 100k/20yr + bushes and that's why I think you have wheel hop. When I replaced every bush and joint my wheel hop went away, can't say exactly which ones sorted it as I done everything in one go.

I read the front bushes on the rear subframe allow some movement to allow minor rear wheel steer by moving whole subframe, if true this would explain why the stock front's are a different design to the rear and possible cause for the 'zig zig'

    So, simple answer, change everything.
Mind you when I had a welder with 245's and not much camber it was ****in horrendus NVH at low speed, far far worse than the only other car I drove with a welder (mx5)

    That's my thought's.

Any recommendations? Car will be 90% street, so I don't want anything too obnoxious.

    Poly or solid ali?

    Poly, definitely not solid bushes.

I don't think anyone does stiffer rubber bushes?

If you wanted rubber Hardrace and Nismo do stiffer ones.

Nismo does, but I've decided for poly from strongflex or ebay..

Is there any different types? I was watching videos on installs and they just slide in after the old bushings been torched out
