Might help if you make a list of everything you have done to try an remedy the issue.

Helps you and everyone else to see what it could be?

What wrong with my car- steering judder and loose vague feeling

So far i have done the following in the order listed.
Fitted New Aston Martin (Brembo) calipers and 370z front disks old were ok anyway but fancied something different and better power. Made no difference to handling and didn't really notice any issues at the time as the car felt a bit vague anyway due to rubbish camber settings.

Had 4 tyres replaced and balanced up easily. All wheels straight and true.

Changed the PAS fluid and belt as part of a service and noticed it was very dirty. Made the steering feel more direct but could feel something juddery.

Belt jumped off on way home and i noticed the car tried to pull really bad left and right when going over the smallest uneven road or round a corner with no PAS??

Did a day a Llandow and had massive judder once everything was warmed up after a few laps

Replaced disks as thought they were bad quality but didnt really have any runout .04mm

Replaced the rack and tension rod bushes and felt more direct but if anything made the judder feel worse.

Replaced coilovers for new TEIN flexZ as they were inverted type and had some play in the top bush.

Made stronger calliper brackets but wasn't expecting it to change anything anyway, if anything the originals were over engineered anyway.

Replaced both TRE and lower balljoints before Rockingham and was confident that it would be sorted but no change.

Swapped wheels front to back and still the same. Checked wheel bearings with mechanic whilst in the air and all good and solid.

Alignments are basically standard spec now but have played about with more camber up front but didn't really drive any different.

Came home and cried a little.

I have inner arm bushed to replace, want to check PAS pump output pressure somehow.

EDIT- replaced bushes and still the same.

Im thinking about trying another set of wheels and possibly changing calipers back to std but the slight judder is there from cold even when not breaking.

Basically it feels like brake judder when warmed up on track but i don't think it is and when cold just driving straight i can feel something pulling the steering left to right slightly? If i steer slightly i can feel something but steering more seems to go away.

I had this when I snapped my front tension rods, but the bolts were still connected to the lcas and was hard to see that I had snapped them until I gave everything a good push/pull and found the fault. Might be worth checking? And going round making sure everything's tight

Jon you sure your bakes aren't seized. Have you checked for heat in the hubs etc after a drive with minimal braking

Was that the big bolt that goes through the bush at the front of the car? I replaced 1off and have replaced the bushes so they should be ok.

At Rockingham the brakes were hot still when i swapped the wheels round and span free as a bird. I will check though when i use the car that the wheels are the same temp either side.

So I’ve just replaced my front inner arm bushes and refitted and still feels like it wants to follow every little road undulation(not bump steer though) not sure about judder when on track though yet.

I’ve spoken to a pas rack specialist and they don’t think it can be rack but i am still not convinced. I also took the pas pump off and stripped it down to inspect and it looks very good internally with no damaged seals or noticeable wear.

this has been going on some time. Bound to be really pissing you off.

My wife had a vectra and had a similar issue, steering felt vague and needed constant correction as it seemed to wonder slightly on the road. Intermittently went from heavy to light and back again. Mechanic replaced the rack but didnt fix it, he then replaced the power steering pump which resolved the issue and car drove as expected again. The vectra had electric power steering but im sure a faulty pump either electrical or mechanical would give similar results.

The pump is an easier thing to replace. The car has been sat over winter and not been touched but its very annoying. Ruins the driving experience.

if i was anywhere near you i'd let you borrow mine to test. My engines out anyway so wont be needing the pump for another few weeks.

Could it be a faulty brake hose or master cylinder holding the brakes slightly after you release the peddle I once had a rubber flexi fail and it acted like a one way valve

If you jack it up spin the wheel press the brakes then try turn the wheels again see if there locked solid ?

Ive replaced all the lines for ptfe braided ones now. I did think that maybe there could be a faulty valve on the ABS unit but the car feels odd anyway compared to my last 14. Just doesn’t feel controlled
