Bought a s14a need help regarding engine problem

    Hi all.

Just bought a highly modified s14a. Currently about 360+ hp.

Was bought as a non runner. Is there anything simple to check on it prior to stripping engine? Spark plugs look a tad rusty on seal but nothing major. I was told potential bottom end but I'm wanting to rule out potential other problems.

    Thanks in advance

Does it turn over? Do you have fuel and spark? That would be where I would start. Also do a compression test then you will know where you stand

Right. Engine was pressure tested today. 3 Pistons were between 7-8 bar and one won't hold compression. Piston 2 seems to overshoot. Cams also seem a bit worn and chain is loose. Doesn't seem like there's and valve damage as they close fully etc. What will I need to do?

If it wont hold compression its normally rings or valves, if it improves by putting a bit of oil down the bore its normally rings/ melted piston if not its most likely the valves.

If the cams are worn etc your going to ahve to strip it at some point and go through the motor, up to you if you do it now or later
