    S14 blacktop top end tapping.

My s14 has started tapping through the whole rev range. I'm running 5w40 oil and its always topped up well.

Where do i start looking in terms of what could be the issue? Possible air trapped somewhere? Lifters? Rockers? It is loud enough for it to be an issue and not jusy vvt rattle. Its just started now while drifting and i don't have rocker stoppers installed.

    Any advice would be great.

Cleaning your spray bars is a must.

I thought mine was a serious issue because it was rather loud tapping noise through low revs, but it was infact the VTC pulley, its abit deceiving on how loud it gets, you would think its something much more serious

If it's in sync with rpm, likely a rocker decided it wants to go on strike.
As said pop the cover off and it should be obvious.

I have to cover off and nothing seems a miss really. All rockers are solid, springs look all good. I've been told its bottom end so seeing how the top looks good might confirm this
