    What TV to buy?

My old LG is on the way out it seems. Its been good but a couple of break downs and currently has some fault on start up. So it's time for a new one.

    Requirements are

    55" possibly larger
Stand has to be centre of the telly.
    4k
    1k top whack
Mainly used for Film and TV. Some gaming but not a great deal.
    Not Sony.

Are LG still better than Samsung or is all much of a muchness these days?

Have you looked at the Panasonics ? I am really pleased with my plasma I got from them 8 yrs ago and it's had no problems.

LG and Samsung are there or there abouts, Panasonic is good too.
Try and get one with HDR as well, most of this years better models will be HDR capable but best check anyway.

Not a fan of plasmas, bro was looking at panasonics about a year ago. I went with him on the final trip and we both decided it was abit pants.

Good to know cheers. Is OLED worth it? I mean buy cheaper now and replace when oled gets cheaper.

Oled would be preferred but i cant see you getting 55" worth of real estate with that budget and an oled screen.

Have a look at this, http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-...60550-pdt.html
I have last years 49" version of this, without HDR.
I like LGs application setup for the smart side of it, while my main pc is the media playback device i use its onboard netflix player as it does 60fps 4k where i can only get that out of Edge on my pc (and naa bugger wants to use Edge)

I wasn't suggesting you buy plasma. When I bought all those years ago, LCD was rare in screens as big as I wanted but technology moves on. Was just really saying it was reliable and good quality for those days

Yeah thats what I thought. How long do you think it will be before oled becomes abit more reasonable?

That looks nice. Will look into it abit further.

Cant see big oled panels with all the bells and whitles being under a grand for a wee while yet.
Just get a good HDR lcd from one of the premium manufacturers and it will be fine.
As i said above i quite like the LG i have, ok its not HDR but its a good quality bit of kit. If i was buying say next year i would want a tv with hdr, oled and adaptive sync (this is basically Freesync on a TV instead of a monitor) for gaming.

OLED is great, but not quite in budget I don't think for £1k.

We have had an OLED for a couple of years now, an HD 55" one, and when we change, it will be OLED again for sure, probably 65". I am really sold on them, they are a nice viewing experience
