Does the CAS affect the idle?

Ive got a s14a an recently done the timing chain, at first the car wouldnt start and i noticed i didnt set the Cas properly, so now that i 'think' the Cas is in the right area the car starts but the idle is all over the place jumping up and down to the point where it stalls because there isnt enough rpm, i can keep the car running by keeping the revs up
I dont know if its linked but i have had idle issues in the past when the cars been warm, the rpm drops about 3times once i become stationary then idles as normal, so dont know if its linked maybe?
    All help appreciated, thanks!

Worth mentioning incase you don't know, it's critical you adjust the CAS with a timing light to set Base timing.

This. The timing being out will affect idle also.
