GT28r possibley on its last legs???

hi folks,

recently started to notice a strange new whining/spool up sound from my Hdev stage 2a s14a running gt28r. its run daily, had the turbo around 3 years now, done around 30k miles. bought turbo here new of a memeber .

it sounds to me like while engine/turbo still cool something is catching once turbo starts to boost, once engine/turbo are to tempreture it goes!
no loss of power, car still pulls strong. am i pushing it running 28r on stage 2a chip and mods? i dont drift, but the old girl does get a hammering every now and then, if it turns out turbo is buggered, is it worth getting referbed ? can it be uprated in anyway? or is there another turbo like the 28rs i should consider than can be run on the standerd Hdev chip?

any advice or pointers? not had a chance to pull of the intake pipes as yet, hope to this week to see how much play i can feel

check the compressor housing hasn’t come loose.

If it's knackered you can get new CHRA's for them, no need to send it off for a refurb then - simple DIY job.
