I fitted an S15 rack straight into my S13, and S14 -> S13 is a straight swap... if that helps :-/

s14 and s15 is basically the same car underneath. same floor pan/same front panel/same strut towers. s15 is basically s14 in a frock.

s13 rack is actually different. as its thinner.

Isn't there a compatibility issue between the tie rods, so you would need the rack with rods and ends, rather than using the s15 rods on the s14 rack. I could be talking out my arse.

s14/s15 rods and ends are the same, s13 rods are thinner so the ends have a smaller treaded hole for the thinner rods. but you can swap complete pairs between cars, so put s14 rods and ends on an s13 rack etc.. you just can mix and match rods and ends.

S15 rods and rod ends are not the same as S14
S13, s14, s15 use the same threads rack end
    S13 are 10mm shorter than s14 and s15
S13 and s15 use m12 rod ends (mating to rod)
    S14 use m14
Not sure about ball joint taper

I used s14 rods and s14 rod ends to replace my worn s15r rod ends

I fitted a 180 steering rack to my s14, the rack itself was identical, same thickness although I have seen different rack bushes for s13, maybe ca18 s13 had thinner rack?

S14 and s15 ( both non hicas) have same steering ratio, s15 has heavier steering.

Back to original question, will s14 steering rack fit s15? Think so

This would be my assumption but Ive been told the steering boxes are different between S15 Spec R and Spec S ..........

Stock rack 3.1 turns lock to lock
Hicas rack 2.6 turns lock to lock

So,,not really a deal breaker for most people.

don't think ive ever seen an s15 with hicas though. only random JDM s14's have hicas fitted (no rhyme or reason to which ones either), its not really something to worry about as fitment wise they will be the same.

if your man is swapping his rack over its worth fitting new bushes as they can get pretty squidgy. s14 and s15 will be the same, (s13 has a thicker passenger side bush)
