Facelift wheels on a prefacelift S13

I'm possibly going to upgrade the brakes on Gracey (a grey pre-facelift S13) and I have two really clean facelift wheels.

At present, the car is completely standard bar the rear spoiler delete.

So, do I hunt down two more facelift wheel and fit them or do I stick with the really clean pepperpots that are on there and put up with crappy 257mm brakes ?

Don't see an issue with subtle upgrades that are keeping it in the family.

With a proper overhaul and decent fluid/hoses/discs/pads will the 257mm brakes really not be up to the task of hauling up a standard car?

EDIT : oh yes they do. I was forgetting this little plastic centre pieces that let you get at the hub bearing. I've got a couple of spares in my box of bits

I would keep the standard wheels on personally, as pointed out above complete over haul of the standard set up will stop it fine.

I voted for the pepperpots or imo they look more like mk2 golf teardrops,
to me pepperpots were the wolfrace sonic on the 6 wheeled thing, and 2.8i crapi xr2 mg metro
I don't do standard cars myself, but if it's a pignose the seven spokes will stand out to me as not what it should have
as I guess you are going the keep it original restoration stylee

Polish the original teardrop wheels, they look pretty nice.

I don't know TBH. I haven't got around to removing them yet. I imagine they are plastic as they just lever off

I searched some pictures and I think the center cap is snap-o-matic plastic
I think plastic can be chrome plated fairly cheaply, or wrap it in chrome effect vinyl or is that too fast and furious

Haven't voted for either, as a false dichotomy:

Both: Use facelift wheels for everyday driving, while keeping pre-facelift P hole wheels safe, clean and concours unscratched stored for use at exhibitions, club show days and specials.

And braking performance is irrelevant if it is originality that is sought. 256's it is.

As a councours show exhibit who's going to be repeat braking from 80 - 10 and back again...

No. They are utter shit. I blued and heat crazed a pair of 257mm discs in one stop from DC speed on an uphill off ramp.

257mm is fairly pathetic to be honest.

They wouldn't even fit that crap on a small hot hatch

I've got a set of facelift carriers. Will they fit with 280 disks under Prefacelift wheels ?

Stick with the really clean pepper pots and put up with the 257mm brakes. I drive my pre face lift daily and the brakes have always stopped me. At the end of the day you just have to drive safely as you would with any other car.
