Eject on break is the equivalent of a manual shift on a straight cut 'box where autoloader is a paddle shifter.
Nothing beats the small curls of smoke you get when you pop the empty shells

I know where you're coming from, and a good o/u is definitely going to make a appearance alongside the maxus if I get the offer accepted,

If not I'm still open on what gun, got wait for the ticket in the post but as soon as it arrives I'll be serious shopping

Called in yesterday to find out if my offer on the maxus has been accepted......

The owner of the gun is not giving any straight answer and iff-ing and are-ing over if they want to sell now,

But they did let me put some cartridges through it to check fit and if I am happy with it...

In a snow blizzard and strong winds managed to hit 90% of the clays, and I found it perfect.

So bit the bullet and just asked the guy to find me a new one, hopefully a ultimate model.

    Picked up my maxus today...

Grade 3 premium game, used but in very good condition & a he'll of a lot cheaper than a new one.

    Got some new kit today....

Honeywell Howard Leight 1034490 Impact Sport Black Ear Defender, SNR 25 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B073QZ7Q...=yo_pop_ma_swf

What a difference to using ear plugs, not only can you have a conversation with your mates, you can hear every little detail, but as soon as the cartridge pops they damp all the noise to a whisper....

Wish I'd bitten the bullet earlier on a set, can't see me going back to plugs now

£3 ear defenders from Wickes is what you need ! Cover your ears while you are shooting, leave them round your neck while you chat.

It was good enough in the 70s/80s. Have ears evolved in 30-40 years ?

Cheers Mark, after seeing it and testing one I couldn't go for anything else - put about 750 carts through it and usually hit 35 - 45 out of 50 clays.

Johnny, I completely agree that the, £3 ear muffin, 50p ear plugs are more than good enough...... But technology has come a long way, and the benefits of the electronic ones are massive when it comes to spacial awareness and being able to hear other people from 3 stands away can only be a good thing from a safety stand, as you can react if something was to go tits up.

I'm so impressed with them, it's going to be top of today's list at work to get them approved by the company for use on site... How much better it will be to just talk instructions to the lads instead of shouting and having "what?" " who?" "where?" etc, etc because no one can hear you

After a couple months shooting I agree with the old "your either browning or beretta" statement.

I am fairly good with my maxus, and have a very good hit rate with my mates cheap O/U miroku..... But had a swing of the other guy who comes with us regulars massively expensive beretta gold something or other and hit 1 in 10, just couldn't make it move smooth at all.

Where as the chap who's gun it is has a 95% hit rate with it.

Well armed the Mrs at the northern shooting show this weekend....

Luckily she has the same reach and fit as myself so, it's actually my new OU that she can use when she very occasionally joins me up cloudside.

Turns out gun shopping is equally as bad as dress shopping when it comes to ladies trying the out.

Settled on a Kofs sceptre sxe.

Certainly no browning or Beretta, but not badly made at all and quite light and well balanced.

The wood looks ok (Well it did until I placed it next to the maxus).

Take it out for a few rounds Wednesday for a proper test, but for £475 New with a free gun slip it was good value.

Certainly tell side by side which is the more expensive one....

    Pretty sure they are Turkish...

Every stand selling them were talking about a "Italian action" so I don't know if they meant made in Italy or ripping off a Italian design?

They do seem to get very good reviews for the price bracket, time will tell how well made it is

"An Italian action" usually means "like a Beretta" only they are not allowed to say that as Beretta would sue their ass.

The Turkish seem to have taken over from the Spanish as the makers of cheap and cheerful guns.

As I've never lived in a house where there was more than one licence holder, I was just wondering what you would have to do if you had two guns each with a different licence holder. Do you have to have two cabinets ?

Can you get more tactical looking shooters for clay pigeons? Something I definitely plan to get into later in life but not interested in wood and engraving?

If she takes it up properly we will find out lol...

Pretty sure you use 1 cabinet but both have the same guns on your tickets.

So no "his n hers", just "ours"

You wouldn't want anything with a "tactical pistol grip" or sawn off stock ...

    But the maxus carbon:

    Winchester sx4:

    Might be what your after
