    Coilovers covers

Has anyone used covers to protect their coilovers? I'm about to fit a brand new set and would like to keep them as fresh as possible.

    Any ideas or recommendations?

I am going to do the same. I saw some ebay chappie that would make them to fit, might give them a go and let you know how they work out.

Please do. Does anyone use grease etc on them when installing. On my last set I used copper grease but obviously it traps the dirt

Never sure if they'll just trap shit inside them and make things worse...

Chain grease is the stuff to use, unfortunately it does attract dust and dirt but it also prevents corrosion.

Its easy enough to clean off if you need to though.

Not a fan of covering up the coil-overs as you are just going to trap moisture and dirt inside causing premature failure.

This is what I used and I picked it up from Halfords and it’s been on there for 3 years if not more and it’s never been re applied and still adjust by hand

Scottoiler FS365, Its a product designed to protect motorcycle parts from salty road conditions. It creates a clear protective layer.

Or clean the fecking things regularly

Chain wax leaves a white coating that is hard to wipe over.

It's unnecessary. Just throw some WD on them every few weeks.

WD40 rinses off when it rains. FS365 is waterproof but comes off with shampoo.

this is the chap that will make covers to order https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COILOVER-....c100011.m1850, I'm going to get some ordered this week.

My coilovers are already copper greased, with covers over the top I think it'll be a good solution for non regular maintenance.

I painted mine, even the springs as I got totally fed up of crappy powder coating that just flakes off. obviously you cant paint the threads so they get a good dose of copper slip and then general grime.
