    Oil return help!

Just a quick one, I’m re-designing my oil return because of space...

Does it need to go in a straight line to the return or can it swoop across like I have it...

I have taken a photo from below so you can see what I’m on about

Pretty sure it can do whatever you like, with in reason. As long as it's running down and not going up I'm sure you'll be grand. I've extended mine and swept it around the hot bits that were in the way to no ill effect. I've also used AN braided hose and fittings like you and slipped some heat sleeve on for added protection.

Mine goes down and then sweeps up ever so slightly due to space, otherwise my other option is it touching the manifold?

As I say it only goes up very slightly, just worried about it collecting oil in the pipe?

It should really only go down otherwise it will struggle to drain efficiently.

I've seen people weld a -10 fitting on the GReddy sump for the oil drain before if it makes fitment easier:

I agree with this ^ it is a gravity return so any upward curves will collect oil and could lead to it can't drain back fast enough (high revs/high oil flow)
and the excess oil weeps past the seals and it burns off in smoke, like a ball bearing turbo with no oil feed restictor getting too much oil

I know it's a pain re doing something ,possible could use a section of large bore hard line were it runs close to hot things
and heat sleeve like blacktooth mentioned

Especially if you have a ballbearing turbo it is essential that the oil drain goes as straight down as possible.

Well iv fitted it, and done 140 miles last night... no exploding turbo so I presume it’s all good.

I have ordered a Freddy dump and il put the AN fitting in it so that it is 100% safe
