current updated on what ive been up to lately with the car..

I have supected a leak in my exhaust manifold for a while now but cant find it. So I striped it out, to find nasty crack. While I had it out i decided to port the GTRS turbo wastegate as i had always had problems with boost creep ever since the turbo was fitted.

Sure while i had the car apart why not treat the engine with some new engine bits.
    so started ordering
    • cosworth 1.1mm gasket
    • ARP head studs
    • BC Ti spring retainers
    • Tomei Type A springs
    • supertech valve seals

removed the head and found cams and rockers had some wear so..
    more ordering..
    • Tomei TypeR cams 256degree 11.5mm lift
    • new rocker arms
    • new cam spray bars

sure with everything out and on the kitchen counter why not attempt some light porting..

while doing all this work i remeber i had a plenum that i have ordered a few years ago but never fitted... so lets try get this on..

while test fitting plenum noticed the oem fuel rail need alot of jigging moving bending and cutting so ordered up a Circuit sport side feed fuel rail in hope it will work better the the oem rail.

fuel rail worked well but it was a tight fit just missing the vvt soleniod. and mounting tabs need to be modified very slightly.

    some polishing....

cyclinder head back on and assembly begins.

the last peice of the puzzle to get a custom IC pipe made up for the BOV and idle hose.
then i'll be ready to start her up.

You said "while it's out".... the most dangerous words known to a man's wallet! Good to see something fun's being done with your car dude - you can finally break that power barrier you've been hitting for a while now. It'll be interesting to see what happens to your torque curve now with the plenum, MHG & porting.

tackling this plenum was no easy job as it was not a straight forward fit..
the intercooler pipe needed to be a 90 degree pipe to connect it to the throttle body, but i miss jugded the angle and ordered up a 45 degree alu pipe instead.. so had to order up a 45 degree silcone pipe reducer. a flange was needed to fit a HKS dump valve onto the pipe and a breather hose for the idle valve.

the plenum did not give a connection to the idle valve to draw in air before the throttle body so i had to modify the valve to be able to connect the hose. so popped of the blanking plug and tapped it for a hose fitting...

with everything in the car it was time to fire it up...
as you all know with all this work something was bound to not work....
she was cranking but not firing..
so rocker off again to double check timing, fuel and then spark...
then after a few calls to Stiv trouble shooted issues and found it to be the fuse blown to the coils.. swapped the fuse and she fired up first time

now to measure timing with a timing gun, get some miles on her oil change and off for a map with Stiv

roll on the next RR day

I miss the simplicity & tunability of the S-bodies... Looking forward to a "comparison" spin whenever she's ready to rock again Ray! Actually, have you noticed any difference in the throttle-response or power delivery at all since installing the plenum etc?

will keep yea updated with mapped and a RR'day to see if this setup works..

Adam, will let Stiv know you said hi. yeah need to get a meet or event organise be nice to meet up with you guys over there sometime.

the throttle response so far has been pretty good. slightest touch the rev seem to go up pretty quick. wont be trying a WOT till its fully checked out for timing and map.

im just glad shes back on the road been 3 month...

While working on the engine and and waiting for parts to arrive, i've also been busy working on the suspension setup..

poly bushing the lower control arm and putting in roll centre adjusters

oh and a front lower brace had this for 3 years only gotten around to fit it now.

for the rears im also gonna polybush the rear lower arm and put on roll centre adjusters.
and some Z32 rear upright knuckles made of alloy alunimum for weight saving on the s-bodies.

sand blasted and old bushings removed.

sperical bushing mount for the suspension bottom end mount

and a modified Tein bottom mount to take the Z32 upright knuckles

    pics to follow..
